At the beginning of each module you will find a downloadable document where you will find the materials you will need for the following classes.
In this module, by way of presentation and introduction to the world of plastic arts, we will talk about the dynamics and the learning method we will follow and how any person with will and interest is capable of going as far as he/she wants in the world of plastic arts, as long as he/she is willing to learn how to analyze.
We will learn the differences between drawing and painting and we will talk about vertical and horizontal surfaces when working, correct postural hygiene and order and comfort in our workspace. In other words, everything we need to know when entering the exciting world of the plastic arts.
In this module we will deal with an important topic, such as drawing materials and painting materials needed to make our works of art, which we will use during the course of drawing and painting.
We will analyze the composition of drawing material and painting material and learn how to use them correctly through practical exercises. We will deepen in aspects such as the techniques for the use of charcoal, we will explore the handling of acrylic paint and we will acquire all the necessary knowledge about oil painting and the use and order of the indispensable complements for oil and acrylic painting.
In these lessons of the painting course we will understand the importance of a good base in drawing before we start learning painting. We will teach you techniques for pre-fitting the drawing following simple to understand procedures.
We will work from the deconstruction of simple shapes to the natural lace, through the use of the grid. We will also emphasize the importance of study and sketching prior to painting. All this with the aim of training our artist brains.
This module of the painting course provides a solid foundation in the theory of light and color, which is very important when learning to paint.
Throughout the lessons we will understand its physical foundations, we will deepen in concepts such as tonal value and chiaroscuro, we will study the chromatic circle, the concepts of temperature, luminosity and saturation, the importance of complementary tones and the use of broken tones in painting, harmony in the color palette and important aspects of color psychology (psychological properties of purple color, psychological effect of red color,…).
In these lessons of the painting and drawing course we will advance in the study of light and color approaching them from the unique perspective of the painter. Applying all the theoretical knowledge acquired, we will delve deeper into the importance of breaking tones.
We will learn the correct use and order in the painter’s palette, the harmony and derivation of tones in it. We will develop techniques to obtain specific color mixtures and we will understand the functioning of the cold or warm tendency of the shadows depending on the temperature of the light of the image to be worked on.
Module V. The portrait
In this module of the drawing and painting course we will deal with a subject as complex as it is striking within painting: the portrait.
Throughout the course we will study each facial element together with the movement of the head and bust to obtain a good anatomical basis.
We will learn the appropriate tones for each skin type and the importance of the small details to achieve the likeness in the portrait, as well as other important aspects such as the effect of the passage of time on the skin.
Module VI. The human body
These lessons of the drawing course are dedicated to the representation of the human figure.
We will study the bone and muscle structure to understand the anatomy and then understand the balance through the points of gravity and support in the postures to make them work properly.
We will release the hand through sketching and some quick painting sessions, which will give us confidence in the anatomical study and movement, and we will work on the different cold or warm tendencies in the color of the skin.
Module VII. Materials and textures
In these lessons of the painting course we will learn new techniques and tools to differentiate specific textures in order to be able to represent different materials.
We will work meticulously to achieve very specific effects in a series of varied materials such as wood, fabrics, metals, walls, glass, glass or crystal, we will approach the volume from the support and we will take the opportunity to explore new techniques more loose and carefree.
At the end of the module, you will have incorporated new expressive resources to your repertoire that will be very useful in your career as an artist.
Module VIII. Animal and botanical nature
In this module we will work on the fluency of gesture and expressiveness and we will try to gain confidence in the brushstroke. By exploring new resources and analyzing the techniques used by other artists, we will expand our expressive range and come closer to finding our own language to define ourselves as unique artists.
Module IX. Landscape and perspective
In this module of the painting course we deepen in fundamental themes in painting, such as perspective and landscape. Throughout the lessons we will study the theoretical principles of perspective and we will delve into aspects such as lighting or the use of derived tones in the palette.
We will then put into action all the knowledge acquired in the representation of natural and urban elements, understanding their appearance and mastering the most effective techniques to obtain vibrant scenarios.
Project
In this block dedicated to the final project of the course of painting and drawing in which we will learn how to project our own paintings, combining the themes that most interest us and approaching the work from the perspective of the concept.
We will learn how to find the appropriate plastic language in each case, depending on the purpose of our message. We will make use of external references to concretize our mental image and turn it into reality, while learning how to develop our works respecting the rules of composition and visual language.
And thanks to this… We will fly free!
